예레미아 29-32

제29장

1 선지자 예레미야가 예루살렘에서 이같은 편지를 느부갓네살이 예루살렘에서 바벨론으로 끌고 간 포로 중 남아 있는 장로들과 제사장들과 선지자들과 모든 백성에게 보냈는데
2 그 때는 여고니야 왕과 왕후와 궁중 내시들과 유다와 예루살렘의 고관들과 기능공과 토공들이 예루살렘에서 떠난 후라
3 유다의 왕 시드기야가 바벨론으로 보내어 바벨론의 왕 느부갓네살에게로 가게 한 사반의 아들 엘라사와 힐기야의 아들 그마랴 편으로 말하되
4 만군의 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님께서 예루살렘에서 바벨론으로 사로잡혀 가게 한 모든 포로에게 이와 같이 말씀하시니라
5 너희는 집을 짓고 거기에 살며 텃밭을 만들고 그 열매를 먹으라
6 아내를 맞이하여 자녀를 낳으며 너희 아들이 아내를 맞이하며 너희 딸이 남편을 맞아 그들로 자녀를 낳게 하여 너희가 거기에서 번성하고 줄어들지 아니하게 하라
7 너희는 내가 사로잡혀 가게 한 그 성읍의 평안을 구하고 그를 위하여 여호와께 기도하라 이는 그 성읍이 평안함으로 너희도 평안할 것임이라
8 만군의 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님께서 이와 같이 말하노라 너희 중에 있는 선지자들에게와 점쟁이에게 미혹되지 말며 너희가 꾼 꿈도 곧이 듣고 믿지 말라
9 내가 그들을 보내지 아니하였어도 그들이 내 이름으로 거짓을 예언함이라 여호와의 말씀이니라
10 여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하시니라 바벨론에서 칠십 년이 차면 내가 너희를 돌보고 나의 선한 말을 너희에게 성취하여 너희를 이 곳으로 돌아오게 하리라
11 여호와의 말씀이니라 너희를 향한 나의 생각을 내가 아나니 평안이요 재앙이 아니니라 너희에게 미래와 희망을 주는 것이니라
12 너희가 내게 부르짖으며 내게 와서 기도하면 내가 너희들의 기도를 들을 것이요
13 너희가 온 마음으로 나를 구하면 나를 찾을 것이요 나를 만나리라
14 이것은 여호와의 말씀이니라 나는 너희들을 만날 것이며 너희를 포로된 중에서 다시 돌아오게 하되 내가 쫓아 보내었던 나라들과 모든 곳에서 모아 사로잡혀 떠났던 그 곳으로 돌아오게 하리라 이것은 여호와의 말씀이니라
15 너희가 말하기를 여호와께서 우리를 위하여 바벨론에서 선지자를 일으키셨느니라
16 다윗의 왕좌에 앉은 왕과 이 성에 사는 모든 백성 곧 너희와 함께 포로 되어 가지 아니한 너희 형제에게 여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하셨느니라
17 만군의 여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하시되 보라 내가 칼과 기근과 전염병을 그들에게 보내어 그들에게 상하여 먹을 수 없는 몹쓸 무화과 같게 하겠고
18 내가 칼과 기근과 전염병으로 그들을 뒤따르게 하며 그들을 세계 여러 나라 가운데에 흩어 학대를 당하게 할 것이며 내가 그들을 쫓아낸 나라들 가운데에서 저주와 경악과 조소와 수모의 대상이 되게 하리라
19 여호와의 말씀이니라 너희들이 내 말을 듣지 않았기 때문이니라 내가 내 종 선지자들을 너희들에게 꾸준히 보냈으나 너희는 그들의 말을 듣지 않았느니라 여호와의 말씀이니라
20 그런즉 내가 예루살렘에서 바벨론으로 보낸 너희 모든 포로여 여호와의 말씀을 들을지니라
21 만군의 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님께서 골라야의 아들 아합과 마아세야의 아들 시드기야에 대하여 이와 같이 말씀하시니라 그들은 내 이름으로 너희에게 거짓을 예언한 자라 보라 내가 그들을 바벨론의 왕 느부갓네살의 손에 넘기리니 그가 너희 눈 앞에서 그들을 죽일 것이라
22 바벨론에 있는 유다의 모든 포로가 그들을 저줏거리로 삼아서 이르기를 여호와께서 너를 바벨론 왕이 불살라 죽인 시드기야와 아합 같게 하시기를 원하노라 하리니
23 이는 그들이 이스라엘 중에서 어리석게 행하여 그 이웃의 아내와 간음하며 내가 그들에게 명령하지 아니한 거짓을 내 이름으로 말함이라 나는 알고 있는 자로서 증인이니라 여호와의 말씀이니라 하시니라
24 너는 느헬람 사람 스마야에게 이같이 말하여 이르라
25 만군의 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님께서 이와 같이 말씀하여 이르시되 네가 네 이름으로 예루살렘에 있는 모든 백성과 제사장 마아세야의 아들 스바냐와 모든 제사장에게 글을 보내 이르기를
26 여호와께서 너를 제사장 여호야다를 대신하여 제사장을 삼아 여호와의 성전 감독자로 세우심은 모든 미친 자와 선지자 노릇을 하는 자들을 목에 씌우는 나무 고랑과 목에 씌우는 쇠 고랑을 채우게 하심이어늘
27 이제 네가 어찌하여 너희 중에 선지자 노릇을 하는 아나돗 사람 예레미야를 책망하지 아니하느냐
28 그가 바벨론에 있는 우리에게 편지하기를 오래 지내야 하리니 너희는 집을 짓고 살며 밭을 일구고 그 열매를 먹으라 하셨다 하니라
29 제사장 스바냐가 스마야의 글을 선지자 예레미야에게 읽어서 들려 줄 때에
30 여호와의 말씀이 예레미야에게 임하여 이르시되
31 너는 모든 포로에게 전언하여 이르기를 여호와께서 느헬람 사람 스마야를 두고 이같이 말씀하셨느니라 내가 그를 보내지 아니하였거늘 스마야가 너희에게 예언하고 너희에게 거짓을 믿게 하였도다
32 그러므로 여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하시니라 보라 내가 느헬람 사람 스마야와 그의 자손을 벌하리니 그가 나 여호와께 패역한 말을 하였기 때문에 이 백성 중에 살아 남을 그의 자손이 하나도 없을 것이라 내가 내 백성에게 행하려 하는 복된 일을 그가 보지 못하리라 하셨느니라 이것은 여호와의 말씀이니라

제30장

1 여호와께로부터 말씀이 예레미야에게 임하여 이르시니라
2 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하여 이르시기를 내가 네게 일러 준 모든 말을 책에 기록하라
3 여호와의 말씀이니라 보라 내가 내 백성 이스라엘과 유다의 포로를 돌아가게 할 날이 오리니 내가 그들을 그 조상들에게 준 땅으로 돌아오게 할 것이니 그들이 그 땅을 차지하리라 여호와께서 말씀하시니라
4 여호와께서 이스라엘과 유다에 대하여 하신 말씀이 이러하니라
5 여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하시되 우리가 무서워 떠는 자의 소리를 들으니 두려움이요 평안함이 아니로다
6 너희는 자식을 해산하는 남자가 있는가 물어보라 어찌하여 모든 남자가 해산하는 여자 같이 손을 자기 허리에 대고 모든 얼굴이 겁에 질려 새파래졌는가
7 슬프다 그 날이여 그와 같이 엄청난 날이 없으리라 그 날은 야곱의 환난의 때가 됨이로다 그러나 그가 환난에서 구하여 냄을 얻으리로다
8 만군의 여호와의 말씀이라 그 날에 내가 네 목에서 그 멍에를 꺾어 버리며 네 포박을 끊으리니 다시는 이방인을 섬기지 않으리라
9 그들은 그들의 하나님 여호와를 섬기며 내가 그들을 위하여 세울 그들의 왕 다윗을 섬기리라
10 여호와의 말씀이니라 그러므로 나의 종 야곱아 너는 두려워하지 말라 이스라엘아 놀라지 말라 내가 너를 먼 곳으로부터 구원하고 네 자손을 잡혀가 있는 땅에서 구원하리니 야곱이 돌아와서 태평과 안락을 누릴 것이며 두렵게 할 자가 없으리라
11 이는 여호와의 말씀이라 내가 너와 함께 있어 너를 구원할 것이라 너를 흩었던 그 모든 이방을 내가 멸망시키리라 그럴지라도 너만은 멸망시키지 아니하리라 그러나 내가 법에 따라 너를 징계할 것이요 결코 무죄한 자로만 여기지는 아니하리라
12 여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하시니라 네 상처는 고칠 수 없고 네 부상은 중하도다
13 네 송사를 처리할 재판관이 없고 네 상처에는 약도 없고 처방도 없도다
14 너를 사랑하던 자가 다 너를 잊고 찾지 아니하니 이는 네 악행이 많고 네 죄가 많기 때문에 나는 네 원수가 당할 고난을 네가 받게 하며 잔인한 징계를 내렸도다
15 너는 어찌하여 네 상처 때문에 부르짖느냐 네 고통이 심하도다 네 악행이 많고 네 죄가 허다하므로 내가 이 일을 너에게 행하였느니라
16 그러므로 너를 먹는 모든 자는 잡아먹힐 것이며 네 모든 대적은 사로잡혀 갈 것이고 너에게서 탈취해 간 자는 탈취를 당할 것이며 너에게서 노략질한 모든 자는 노략물이 되리라
17 여호와의 말씀이니라 그들이 쫓겨난 자라 하매 시온을 찾는 자가 없은즉 내가 너의 상처로부터 새 살이 돋아나게 하여 너를 고쳐 주리라
18 여호와께서 말씀하시니라 보라 내가 야곱 장막의 포로들을 돌아오게 할 것이고 그 거처들에 사랑을 베풀 것이라 성읍은 그 폐허가 된 언덕 위에 건축될 것이요 그 보루는 규정에 따라 사람이 살게 되리라
19 그들에게서 감사하는 소리가 나오고 즐거워하는 자들의 소리가 나오리라 내가 그들을 번성하게 하리니 그들의 수가 줄어들지 아니하겠고 내가 그들을 존귀하게 하리니 그들은 비천하여지지 아니하리라
20 그의 자손은 예전과 같겠고 그 회중은 내 앞에 굳게 설 것이며 그를 압박하는 모든 사람은 내가 다 벌하리라
21 그 영도자는 그들 중에서 나올 것이요 그 통치자도 그들 중에서 나오리라 내가 그를 가까이 오게 하리니 그가 내게 가까이 오리라 참으로 담대한 마음으로 내게 가까이 올 자가 누구냐 여호와의 말씀이니라
22 너희는 내 백성이 되겠고 나는 너희들의 하나님이 되리라
23 보라 여호와의 노여움이 일어나 폭풍과 회오리바람처럼 악인의 머리 위에서 회오리칠 것이라
24 여호와의 진노는 그의 마음의 뜻한 바를 행하여 이루기까지는 돌이키지 아니하나니 너희가 끝날에 그것을 깨달으리라

제31장

1 여호와의 말씀이니라 그 때에 내가 이스라엘 모든 종족의 하나님이 되고 그들은 내 백성이 되리라
2 여호와께서 이같이 말씀하시니라 칼에서 벗어난 백성이 광야에서 은혜를 입었나니 곧 내가 이스라엘로 안식을 얻게 하러 갈 때에라
3 옛적에 여호와께서 나에게 나타나사 내가 영원한 사랑으로 너를 사랑하기에 인자함으로 너를 이끌었다 하였노라
4 처녀 이스라엘아 내가 다시 너를 세우리니 네가 세움을 입을 것이요 네가 다시 소고를 들고 즐거워하는 자들과 함께 춤추며 나오리라
5 네가 다시 사마리아 산들에 포도나무들을 심되 심는 자가 그 열매를 따기 시작하리라
6 에브라임 산 위에서 파수꾼이 외치는 날이 있을 것이라 이르기를 너희는 일어나라 우리가 시온에 올라가서 우리 하나님 여호와께로 나아가자 하리라
7 여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하시니라 너희는 여러 민족의 앞에 서서 야곱을 위하여 기뻐 외치라 너희는 전파하며 찬양하며 말하라 여호와여 주의 백성 이스라엘의 남은 자를 구원하소서 하라
8 보라 나는 그들을 북쪽 땅에서 인도하며 땅 끝에서부터 모으리라 그들 중에는 맹인과 다리 저는 사람과 잉태한 여인과 해산하는 여인이 함께 있으며 큰 무리를 이루어 이 곳으로 돌아오리라
9 그들이 울며 돌아오리니 나의 인도함을 받고 간구할 때에 내가 그들을 넘어지지 아니하고 물 있는 계곡의 곧은 길로 가게 하리라 나는 이스라엘의 아버지요 에브라임은 나의 장자니라
10 이방들이여 너희는 여호와의 말씀을 듣고 먼 섬에 전파하여 이르기를 이스라엘을 흩으신 자가 그를 모으시고 목자가 그 양 떼에게 행함 같이 그를 지키시리로다
11 여호와께서 야곱을 구원하시되 그들보다 강한 자의 손에서 속량하셨으니
12 그들이 와서 시온의 높은 곳에서 찬송하며 여호와의 복 곧 곡식과 새 포도주와 기름과 어린 양의 떼와 소의 떼를 얻고 크게 기뻐하리라 그 심령은 물 댄 동산 같겠고 다시는 근심이 없으리로다 할지어다
13 그 때에 처녀는 춤추며 즐거워하겠고 청년과 노인은 함께 즐거워하리니 내가 그들의 슬픔을 돌려서 즐겁게 하며 그들을 위로하여 그들의 근심으로부터 기쁨을 얻게 할 것임이라
14 내가 기름으로 제사장들의 마음을 흡족하게 하며 내 복으로 내 백성을 만족하게 하리라 여호와의 말씀이니라
15 여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하시니라 라마에서 슬퍼하며 통곡하는 소리가 들리니 라헬이 그 자식 때문에 애곡하는 것이라 그가 자식이 없어져서 위로 받기를 거절하는도다
16 여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하시니라 네 울음 소리와 네 눈물을 멈추어라 네 일에 삯을 받을 것인즉 그들이 그의 대적의 땅에서 돌아오리라 여호와의 말씀이니라
17 너의 장래에 소망이 있을 것이라 너의 자녀가 자기들의 지경으로 돌아오리라 여호와의 말씀이니라
18 에브라임이 스스로 탄식함을 내가 분명히 들었노니 주께서 나를 징벌하시매 멍에에 익숙하지 못한 송아지 같은 내가 징벌을 받았나이다 주는 나의 하나님 여호와이시니 나를 이끌어 돌이키소서 그리하시면 내가 돌아오겠나이다
19 내가 돌이킨 후에 뉘우쳤고 내가 교훈을 받은 후에 내 볼기를 쳤사오니 이는 어렸을 때의 치욕을 지므로 부끄럽고 욕됨이니이다 하도다
20 에브라임은 나의 사랑하는 아들 기뻐하는 자식이 아니냐 내가 그를 책망하여 말할 때마다 깊이 생각하노라 그러므로 그를 위하여 내 창자가 들끓으니 내가 반드시 그를 불쌍히 여기리라 여호와의 말씀이니라
21 처녀 이스라엘아 너의 이정표를 세우며 너의 푯말을 만들고 큰 길 곧 네가 전에 가던 길을 마음에 두라 돌아오라 네 성읍들로 돌아오라
22 반역한 딸아 네가 어느 때까지 방황하겠느냐 여호와가 새 일을 세상에 창조하였나니 곧 여자가 남자를 둘러 싸리라
23 만군의 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님께서 이와 같이 말씀하시니라 내가 그 사로잡힌 자를 돌아오게 할 때에 그들이 유다 땅과 그 성읍들에서 다시 이 말을 쓰리니 곧 의로운 처소여, 거룩한 산이여, 여호와께서 네게 복 주시기를 원하노라 할 것이며
24 유다와 그 모든 성읍의 농부와 양 떼를 인도하는 자가 거기에 함께 살리니
25 이는 내가 그 피곤한 심령을 상쾌하게 하며 모든 연약한 심령을 만족하게 하였음이라 하시기로
26 내가 깨어 보니 내 잠이 달았더라
27 여호와의 말씀이니라 보라 내가 사람의 씨와 짐승의 씨를 이스라엘 집과 유다 집에 뿌릴 날이 이르리니
28 깨어서 그들을 뿌리 뽑으며 무너뜨리며 전복하며 멸망시키며 괴롭게 하던 것과 같이 내가 깨어서 그들을 세우며 심으리라 여호와의 말씀이니라
29 그 때에 그들이 말하기를 다시는 아버지가 신 포도를 먹었으므로 아들들의 이가 시다 하지 아니하겠고
30 신 포도를 먹는 자마다 그의 이가 신 것 같이 누구나 자기의 죄악으로 말미암아 죽으리라
31 여호와의 말씀이니라 보라 날이 이르리니 내가 이스라엘 집과 유다 집에 새 언약을 맺으리라
32 이 언약은 내가 그들의 조상들의 손을 잡고 애굽 땅에서 인도하여 내던 날에 맺은 것과 같지 아니할 것은 내가 그들의 남편이 되었어도 그들이 내 언약을 깨뜨렸음이라 여호와의 말씀이니라
33 그러나 그 날 후에 내가 이스라엘 집과 맺을 언약은 이러하니 곧 내가 나의 법을 그들의 속에 두며 그들의 마음에 기록하여 나는 그들의 하나님이 되고 그들은 내 백성이 될 것이라 여호와의 말씀이니라
34 그들이 다시는 각기 이웃과 형제를 가리켜 이르기를 너는 여호와를 알라 하지 아니하리니 이는 작은 자로부터 큰 자까지 다 나를 알기 때문이라 내가 그들의 악행을 사하고 다시는 그 죄를 기억하지 아니하리라 여호와의 말씀이니라
35 여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하셨느니라 그는 해를 낮의 빛으로 주셨고 달과 별들을 밤의 빛으로 정하였고 바다를 뒤흔들어 그 파도로 소리치게 하나니 그의 이름은 만군의 여호와니라
36 이 법도가 내 앞에서 폐할진대 이스라엘 자손도 내 앞에서 끊어져 영원히 나라가 되지 못하리라 여호와의 말씀이니라
37 여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하시니라 위에 있는 하늘을 측량할 수 있으며 밑에 있는 땅의 기초를 탐지할 수 있다면 내가 이스라엘 자손이 행한 모든 일로 말미암아 그들을 다 버리리라 여호와의 말씀이니라
38 보라, 날이 이르리니 이 성은 하나넬 망대로부터 모퉁이에 이르기까지 여호와를 위하여 건축될 것이라 여호와의 말씀이니라
39 측량줄이 곧게 가렙 언덕 밑에 이르고 고아로 돌아
40 시체와 재의 모든 골짜기와 기드론 시내에 이르는 모든 고지 곧 동쪽 마문의 모퉁이에 이르기까지 여호와의 거룩한 곳이니라 영원히 다시는 뽑거나 전복하지 못할 것이니라

제32장

1 유다의 시드기야 왕 열째 해 곧 느부갓네살 열여덟째 해에 여호와의 말씀이 예레미야에게 임하니라
2 그 때에 바벨론 군대는 예루살렘을 에워싸고 선지자 예레미야는 유다의 왕의 궁중에 있는 시위대 뜰에 갇혔으니
3-5 이는 그가 예언하기를 여호와의 말씀에 보라 내가 이 성을 바벨론 왕의 손에 넘기리니 그가 차지할 것이며 유다 왕 시드기야는 갈대아인의 손에서 벗어나지 못하고 반드시 바벨론 왕의 손에 넘겨진 바 되리니 입이 입을 대하여 말하고 눈이 서로 볼 것이며 그가 시드기야를 바벨론으로 끌어 가리니 시드기야는 내가 돌볼 때까지 거기에 있으리라 여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하시니라 너희가 갈대아인과 싸울지라도 승리하지 못하리라 하셨다 하였더니 유다 왕 시드기야가 이르되 네가 어찌하여 이같이 예언하였느냐 하고 그를 가두었음이었더라
6 예레미야가 이르되 여호와의 말씀이 내게 임하였느니라 이르시기를
7 보라 네 숙부 살룸의 아들 하나멜이 네게 와서 말하기를 너는 아나돗에 있는 내 밭을 사라 이 기업을 무를 권리가 네게 있느니라 하리라 하시더니
8 여호와의 말씀과 같이 나의 숙부의 아들 하나멜이 시위대 뜰 안 나에게 와서 이르되 청하노니 너는 베냐민 땅 아나돗에 있는 나의 밭을 사라 기업의 상속권이 네게 있고 무를 권리가 네게 있으니 너를 위하여 사라 하는지라 내가 이것이 여호와의 말씀인 줄 알았으므로
9 내 숙부의 아들 하나멜의 아나돗에 있는 밭을 사는데 은 십칠 세겔을 달아 주되
10 증서를 써서 봉인하고 증인을 세우고 은을 저울에 달아 주고
11 법과 규례대로 봉인하고 봉인하지 아니한 매매 증서를 내가 가지고
12 나의 숙부의 아들 하나멜과 매매 증서에 인 친 증인 앞과 시위대 뜰에 앉아 있는 유다 모든 사람 앞에서 그 매매 증서를 마세야의 손자 네리야의 아들 바룩에게 부치며
13 그들의 앞에서 바룩에게 명령하여 이르되
14 만군의 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님께서 이와 같이 말씀하시기를 너는 이 증서 곧 봉인하고 봉인하지 않은 매매 증서를 가지고 토기에 담아 오랫동안 보존하게 하라
15 만군의 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님께서 이와 같이 말씀하시니라 사람이 이 땅에서 집과 밭과 포도원을 다시 사게 되리라 하셨다 하니라
16 내가 매매 증서를 네리야의 아들 바룩에게 넘겨 준 뒤에 여호와께 기도하여 이르되
17 슬프도소이다 주 여호와여 주께서 큰 능력과 펴신 팔로 천지를 지으셨사오니 주에게는 할 수 없는 일이 없으시니이다
18 주는 은혜를 천만인에게 베푸시며 아버지의 죄악을 그 후손의 품에 갚으시오니 크고 능력 있으신 하나님이시요 이름은 만군의 여호와시니이다
19 주는 책략에 크시며 하시는 일에 능하시며 인류의 모든 길을 주목하시며 그의 길과 그의 행위의 열매대로 보응하시나이다
20 주께서 애굽 땅에서 표적과 기사를 행하셨고 오늘까지도 이스라엘과 인류 가운데 그와 같이 행하사 주의 이름을 오늘과 같이 되게 하셨나이다
21 주께서 표적과 기사와 강한 손과 펴신 팔과 큰 두려움으로 주의 백성 이스라엘을 애굽 땅에서 인도하여 내시고
22 그들에게 주시기로 그 조상들에게 맹세하신 바 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 땅을 그들에게 주셨으므로
23 그들이 들어가서 이를 차지하였거늘 주의 목소리를 순종하지 아니하며 주의 율법에서 행하지 아니하며 무릇 주께서 행하라 명령하신 일을 행하지 아니하였으므로 주께서 이 모든 재앙을 그들에게 내리셨나이다
24 보옵소서 이 성을 빼앗으려고 만든 참호가 이 성에 이르렀고 칼과 기근과 전염병으로 말미암아 이 성이 이를 치는 갈대아인의 손에 넘긴 바 되었으니 주의 말씀대로 되었음을 주께서 보시나이다
25 주 여호와여 주께서 내게 은으로 밭을 사며 증인을 세우라 하셨으나 이 성은 갈대아인의 손에 넘기신 바 되었나이다
26 그 때에 여호와의 말씀이 예레미야에게 임하여 이르시되
27 나는 여호와요 모든 육체의 하나님이라 내게 할 수 없는 일이 있겠느냐
28 그러므로 여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하시니라 보라 내가 이 성을 갈대아인의 손과 바벨론의 느부갓네살 왕의 손에 넘길 것인즉 그가 차지할 것이라
29 이 성을 치는 갈대아인이 와서 이 성읍에 불을 놓아 성과 집 곧 그 지붕에서 바알에게 분향하며 다른 신들에게 전제를 드려 나를 격노하게 한 집들을 사르리니
30 이는 이스라엘 자손과 유다 자손이 예로부터 내 눈 앞에 악을 행하였을 뿐이라 이스라엘 자손은 그의 손으로 만든 것을 가지고 나를 격노하게 한 것뿐이니라 여호와의 말씀이니라
31 이 성이 건설된 날부터 오늘까지 나의 노여움과 분을 일으키므로 내가 내 앞에서 그것을 옮기려 하노니
32 이는 이스라엘 자손과 유다 자손이 모든 악을 행하여 내 노여움을 일으켰음이라 그들과 그들의 왕들과 그의 고관들과 그의 제사장들과 그의 선지자들과 유다 사람들과 예루살렘 주민들이 다 그러하였느니라
33 그들이 등을 내게로 돌리고 얼굴을 내게로 향하지 아니하며 내가 그들을 가르치되 끊임없이 가르쳤는데도 그들이 교훈을 듣지 아니하며 받지 아니하고
34 내 이름으로 일컫는 집에 자기들의 가증한 물건들을 세워서 그 집을 더럽게 하며
35 힌놈의 아들의 골짜기에 바알의 산당을 건축하였으며 자기들의 아들들과 딸들을 몰렉 앞으로 지나가게 하였느니라 그들이 이런 가증한 일을 행하여 유다로 범죄하게 한 것은 내가 명령한 것도 아니요 내 마음에 둔 것도 아니니라
36 그러나 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께서 너희가 말하는 바 칼과 기근과 전염병으로 말미암아 바벨론 왕의 손에 넘긴 바 되었다 하는 이 성에 대하여 이와 같이 말씀하시니라
37 보라 내가 노여움과 분함과 큰 분노로 그들을 쫓아 보내었던 모든 지방에서 그들을 모아들여 이 곳으로 돌아오게 하여 안전히 살게 할 것이라
38 그들은 내 백성이 되겠고 나는 그들의 하나님이 될 것이며
39 내가 그들에게 한 마음과 한 길을 주어 자기들과 자기 후손의 복을 위하여 항상 나를 경외하게 하고
40 내가 그들에게 복을 주기 위하여 그들을 떠나지 아니하리라 하는 영원한 언약을 그들에게 세우고 나를 경외함을 그들의 마음에 두어 나를 떠나지 않게 하고
41 내가 기쁨으로 그들에게 복을 주되 분명히 나의 마음과 정성을 다하여 그들을 이 땅에 심으리라
42 여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하시니라 내가 이 백성에게 이 큰 재앙을 내린 것 같이 허락한 모든 복을 그들에게 내리리라
43 너희가 말하기를 황폐하여 사람이나 짐승이 없으며 갈대아인의 손에 넘긴 바 되었다 하는 이 땅에서 사람들이 밭을 사되
44 베냐민 땅과 예루살렘 사방과 유다 성읍들과 산지의 성읍들과 저지대의 성읍들과 네겝의 성읍들에 있는 밭을 은으로 사고 증서를 기록하여 봉인하고 증인을 세우리니 이는 내가 그들의 포로를 돌아오게 함이니라 여호와의 말씀이니라

Jeremiah 29-32

Chapter 29

1 These are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem to the surviving elders of the exiles, and to the priests, the prophets, and all the people, whom Nebuchadnezzar had taken into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon.
2 This was after King Jeconiah and the queen mother, the eunuchs, the officials of Judah and Jerusalem, the craftsmen, and the metal workers had departed from Jerusalem.
3 The letter was sent by the hand of Elasah the son of Shaphan and Gemariah the son of Hilkiah, whom Zedekiah king of Judah sent to Babylon to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon. It said:
4 "Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, to all the exiles whom I have sent into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon:
5 Build houses and live in them; plant gardens and eat their produce.
6 Take wives and have sons and daughters; take wives for your sons, and give your daughters in marriage, that they may bear sons and daughters; multiply there, and do not decrease.
7 But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the LORD on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.
8 For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Do not let your prophets and your diviners who are among you deceive you, and do not listen to the dreams that they dream,
9 for it is a lie that they are prophesying to you in my name; I did not send them, declares the LORD.
10 "For thus says the LORD: When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will visit you, and I will fulfill to you my promise and bring you back to this place.
11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you.
13 You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.
14 I will be found by you, declares the LORD, and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you, declares the LORD, and I will bring you back to the place from which I sent you into exile.
15 "Because you have said, 'The LORD has raised up prophets for us in Babylon,'
16 thus says the LORD concerning the king who sits on the throne of David, and concerning all the people who dwell in this city, your kinsmen who did not go out with you into exile:
17 'Thus says the LORD of hosts, behold, I am sending on them sword, famine, and pestilence, and I will make them like vile figs that are so rotten they cannot be eaten.
18 I will pursue them with sword, famine, and pestilence, and will make them a horror to all the kingdoms of the earth, to be a curse, a terror, a hissing, and a reproach among all the nations where I have driven them,
19 because they did not pay attention to my words, declares the LORD, that I persistently sent to you by my servants the prophets, but you would not listen, declares the LORD.'
20 Hear the word of the LORD, all you exiles whom I sent away from Jerusalem to Babylon:
21 'Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, concerning Ahab the son of Kolaiah and Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, who are prophesying a lie to you in my name: Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and he shall strike them down before your eyes.
22 Because of them this curse shall be used by all the exiles from Judah in Babylon: "The LORD make you like Zedekiah and Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire,"
23 because they have done an outrageous thing in Israel, they have committed adultery with their neighbors' wives, and they have spoken in my name lying words that I did not command them. I am the one who knows, and I am witness, declares the LORD.'"
24 To Shemaiah of Nehelam you shall say:
25 "Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: You have sent letters in your name to all the people who are in Jerusalem, and to Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest, and to all the priests, saying,
26 'The LORD has made you priest instead of Jehoiada the priest, to have charge in the house of the LORD over every madman who prophesies, to put him in the stocks and neck irons.
27 Now why have you not rebuked Jeremiah of Anathoth who is prophesying to you?
28 For he has sent to us in Babylon, saying, "Your exile will be long; build houses and live in them, and plant gardens and eat their produce."'"
29 Zephaniah the priest read this letter in the hearing of Jeremiah the prophet.
30 Then the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah:
31 "Send to all the exiles, saying, 'Thus says the LORD concerning Shemaiah of Nehelam: Because Shemaiah had prophesied to you when I did not send him, and has made you trust in a lie,
32 therefore thus says the LORD: Behold, I will punish Shemaiah of Nehelam and his descendants. He shall not have anyone living among this people, and he shall not see the good that I will do to my people, declares the LORD, for he has spoken rebellion against the LORD.'"

Chapter 30

1 The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD:
2 "Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel: Write in a book all the words that I have spoken to you.
3 For behold, days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will restore the fortunes of my people, Israel and Judah, says the LORD, and I will bring them back to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall take possession of it."
4 These are the words that the LORD spoke concerning Israel and Judah:
5 "Thus says the LORD: We have heard a cry of panic, of terror, and no peace.
6 Ask now, and see, can a man bear a child? Why then do I see every man with his hands on his stomach like a woman in labor? Why has every face turned pale?
7 Alas! That day is so great there is none like it; it is a time of distress for Jacob; yet he shall be saved out of it.
8 "And it shall come to pass in that day, declares the LORD of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off your neck, and I will burst your bonds, and foreigners shall no more make a servant of him.
9 But they shall serve the LORD their God and David their king, whom I will raise up for them.
10 "Then fear not, O Jacob my servant, declares the LORD, nor be dismayed, O Israel; for behold, I will save you from far away, and your offspring from the land of their captivity. Jacob shall return and have quiet and ease, and none shall make him afraid.
11 For I am with you to save you, declares the LORD; I will make a full end of all the nations among whom I scattered you, but of you I will not make a full end. I will discipline you in just measure, and I will by no means leave you unpunished.
12 "For thus says the LORD: Your hurt is incurable, and your wound is grievous.
13 There is none to uphold your cause, no medicine for your wound, no healing for you.
14 All your lovers have forgotten you; they care nothing for you; for I have dealt you the blow of an enemy, the punishment of a merciless foe, because your guilt is great, because your sins are flagrant.
15 Why do you cry out over your hurt? Your pain is incurable. Because your guilt is great, because your sins are flagrant, I have done these things to you.
16 Therefore all who devour you shall be devoured, and all your foes, every one of them, shall go into captivity; those who plunder you shall be plundered, and all who prey on you I will make a prey.
17 For I will restore health to you, and your wounds I will heal, declares the LORD, because they have called you an outcast: 'It is Zion, for whom no one cares!'
18 "Thus says the LORD: Behold, I will restore the fortunes of the tents of Jacob and have compassion on his dwellings; the city shall be rebuilt on its mound, and the palace shall stand where it used to be.
19 Out of them shall come songs of thanksgiving, and the voices of those who celebrate. I will multiply them, and they shall not be few; I will make them honored, and they shall not be small.
20 Their children shall be as they were of old, and their congregation shall be established before me, and I will punish all who oppress them.
21 Their prince shall be one of themselves; their ruler shall come out from their midst; I will make him draw near, and he shall approach me, for who would dare of himself to approach me? declares the LORD.
22 And you shall be my people, and I will be your God."
23 Behold the storm of the LORD! Wrath has gone forth, a whirling tempest; it will burst upon the head of the wicked.
24 The fierce anger of the LORD will not turn back until he has executed and accomplished the intentions of his mind. In the latter days you will understand this.

Chapter 31

1 "At that time, declares the LORD, I will be the God of all the clans of Israel, and they shall be my people."
2 Thus says the LORD: "The people who survived the sword found grace in the wilderness; when Israel sought for rest,
3 the LORD appeared to him from far away. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you.
4 Again I will build you, and you shall be built, O virgin Israel! Again you shall adorn yourself with tambourines and shall go forth in the dance of the merrymakers.
5 Again you shall plant vineyards on the mountains of Samaria; the planters shall plant and shall enjoy the fruit.
6 For there shall be a day when watchmen will call in the hill country of Ephraim: 'Arise, and let us go up to Zion, to the LORD our God.'"
7 For thus says the LORD: "Sing aloud with gladness for Jacob, and raise shouts for the chief of the nations; proclaim, give praise, and say, 'O LORD, save your people, the remnant of Israel.'
8 Behold, I will bring them from the north country and gather them from the farthest parts of the earth, among them the blind and the lame, the pregnant woman and she who is in labor, together; a great company, they shall return here.
9 With weeping they shall come, and with pleas for mercy I will lead them back, I will make them walk by brooks of water, in a straight path in which they shall not stumble, for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn.
10 "Hear the word of the LORD, O nations, and declare it in the coastlands far away; say, 'He who scattered Israel will gather him, and will keep him as a shepherd keeps his flock.'
11 For the LORD has ransomed Jacob and has redeemed him from hands too strong for him.
12 They shall come and sing aloud on the height of Zion, and they shall be radiant over the goodness of the LORD, over the grain, the wine, and the oil, and over the young of the flock and the herd; their life shall be like a watered garden, and they shall languish no more.
13 Then shall the young women rejoice in the dance, and the young men and the old shall be merry. I will turn their mourning into joy; I will comfort them, and give them gladness for sorrow.
14 I will feast the soul of the priests with abundance, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, declares the LORD."
15 Thus says the LORD: "A voice is heard in Ramah, lamentation and bitter weeping. Rachel is weeping for her children; she refuses to be comforted for her children, because they are no more."
16 Thus says the LORD: "Keep your voice from weeping, and your eyes from tears, for there is a reward for your work, declares the LORD, and they shall come back from the land of the enemy.
17 There is hope for your future, declares the LORD, and your children shall come back to their own country.
18 I have heard Ephraim grieving, 'You have disciplined me, and I was disciplined, like an untrained calf; bring me back that I may be restored, for you are the LORD my God.
19 For after I had turned away, I relented, and after I was instructed, I struck my thigh; I was ashamed, and I was confounded, because I bore the disgrace of my youth.'
20 Is Ephraim my dear son? Is he my darling child? For as often as I speak against him, I do remember him still. Therefore my heart yearns for him; I will surely have mercy on him, declares the LORD.
21 "Set up road markers for yourself; make yourself guideposts; consider well the highway, the road by which you went. Return, O virgin Israel, return to these your cities.
22 How long will you waver, O faithless daughter? For the LORD has created a new thing on the earth: a woman encircles a man."
23 Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: "Once more they shall use these words in the land of Judah and in its cities, when I restore their fortunes: "'The LORD bless you, O habitation of righteousness, O holy hill!'
24 And Judah and all its cities shall dwell there together, and the farmers and those who wander with their flocks.
25 For I will satisfy the weary soul, and every languishing soul I will replenish."
26 At this I awoke and looked, and my sleep was pleasant to me.
27 "Behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of man and the seed of beast.
28 And it shall come to pass that as I have watched over them to pluck up and break down, to overthrow, destroy, and bring harm, so I will watch over them to build and to plant, declares the LORD.
29 In those days they shall no longer say: "'The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge.'
30 But everyone shall die for his own sin. Each man who eats sour grapes, his teeth shall be set on edge.
31 "Behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah,
32 not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, my covenant that they broke, though I was their husband, declares the LORD.
33 But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the LORD: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
34 And no longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD,' for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the LORD. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more."
35 Thus says the LORD, who gives the sun for light by day and the fixed order of the moon and the stars for light by night, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar-- the LORD of hosts is his name:
36 "If this fixed order departs from before me, declares the LORD, then shall the offspring of Israel cease from being a nation before me forever."
37 Thus says the LORD: "If the heavens above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth below can be explored, then I will cast off all the offspring of Israel for all that they have done, declares the LORD."
38 "Behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when the city shall be rebuilt for the LORD from the Tower of Hananel to the Corner Gate.
39 And the measuring line shall go out farther, straight to the hill Gareb, and shall then turn to Goah.
40 The whole valley of the dead bodies and the ashes, and all the fields as far as the brook Kidron, to the corner of the Horse Gate toward the east, shall be sacred to the LORD. It shall not be uprooted or overthrown anymore forever."

Chapter 32

1 The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD in the tenth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, which was the eighteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar.
2 At that time the army of the king of Babylon was besieging Jerusalem, and Jeremiah the prophet was shut up in the court of the guard that was in the palace of the king of Judah.
3 For Zedekiah king of Judah had imprisoned him, saying, "Why do you prophesy and say, 'Thus says the LORD: Behold, I am giving this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall capture it;
4 Zedekiah king of Judah shall not escape out of the hand of the Chaldeans, but shall surely be given into the hand of the king of Babylon, and shall speak with him face to face and see him eye to eye.
5 And he shall take Zedekiah to Babylon, and there he shall remain until I visit him, declares the LORD. Though you fight against the Chaldeans, you shall not succeed'?"
6 Jeremiah said, "The word of the LORD came to me:
7 Behold, Hanamel the son of Shallum your uncle will come to you and say, 'Buy my field that is at Anathoth, for the right of redemption by purchase is yours.'
8 Then Hanamel my cousin came to me in the court of the guard, in accordance with the word of the LORD, and said to me, 'Buy my field that is at Anathoth in the land of Benjamin, for the right of possession and redemption is yours; buy it for yourself.' Then I knew that this was the word of the LORD.
9 "And I bought the field at Anathoth from Hanamel my cousin, and weighed out the money to him, seventeen shekels of silver.
10 I signed the deed, sealed it, got witnesses, and weighed the money on scales.
11 Then I took the sealed deed of purchase, containing the terms and conditions and the open copy.
12 And I gave the deed of purchase to Baruch the son of Neriah son of Mahseiah, in the presence of Hanamel my cousin, in the presence of the witnesses who signed the deed of purchase, and in the presence of all the Judeans who were sitting in the court of the guard.
13 I charged Baruch in their presence, saying,
14 'Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Take these deeds, both this sealed deed of purchase and this open deed, and put them in an earthenware vessel, that they may last for a long time.
15 For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Houses and fields and vineyards shall again be bought in this land.'
16 "After I had given the deed of purchase to Baruch the son of Neriah, I prayed to the LORD, saying:
17 'Ah, Lord GOD! It is you who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you.
18 You show steadfast love to thousands, but you repay the guilt of fathers to their children after them, O great and mighty God, whose name is the LORD of hosts,
19 great in counsel and mighty in deed, whose eyes are open to all the ways of the children of man, rewarding each one according to his ways and according to the fruit of his deeds.
20 You have shown signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, and to this day in Israel and among all mankind, and have made a name for yourself, as at this day.
21 You brought your people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs and wonders, with a strong hand and outstretched arm, and with great terror.
22 And you gave them this land, which you swore to their fathers to give them, a land flowing with milk and honey.
23 And they entered and took possession of it. But they did not obey your voice or walk in your law. They did nothing of all you commanded them to do. Therefore you have made all this disaster come upon them.
24 Behold, the siege mounds have come up to the city to take it, and because of sword and famine and pestilence the city is given into the hands of the Chaldeans who are fighting against it. What you spoke has come to pass, and behold, you see it.
25 Yet you, O Lord GOD, have said to me, "Buy the field for money and get witnesses"--though the city is given into the hands of the Chaldeans.'"
26 The word of the LORD came to Jeremiah:
27 "Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh. Is anything too hard for me?
28 Therefore, thus says the LORD: Behold, I am giving this city into the hands of the Chaldeans and into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and he shall capture it.
29 The Chaldeans who are fighting against this city shall come and set this city on fire and burn it, with the houses on whose roofs offerings have been made to Baal and drink offerings have been poured out to other gods, to provoke me to anger.
30 For the children of Israel and the children of Judah have done nothing but evil in my sight from their youth. The children of Israel have done nothing but provoke me to anger by the work of their hands, declares the LORD.
31 This city has aroused my anger and wrath, from the day it was built to this day, so that I will remove it from my sight
32 because of all the evil of the children of Israel and the children of Judah that they did to provoke me to anger--their kings and their officials, their priests and their prophets, the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
33 They have turned to me their back and not their face. And though I have taught them persistently, they have not listened to receive instruction.
34 They set up their abominations in the house that is called by my name, to defile it.
35 They built the high places of Baal in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, to offer up their sons and daughters to Molech, though I did not command them, nor did it enter into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.
36 "Now therefore thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning this city of which you say, 'It is given into the hand of the king of Babylon by sword, by famine, and by pestilence':
37 Behold, I will gather them from all the countries to which I drove them in my anger and my wrath and in great indignation. I will bring them back to this place, and I will make them dwell in safety.
38 And they shall be my people, and I will be their God.
39 I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear me forever, for their own good and the good of their children after them.
40 I will make with them an everlasting covenant, that I will not turn away from doing good to them. And I will put the fear of me in their hearts, that they may not turn from me.
41 I will rejoice in doing them good, and I will plant them in this land in faithfulness, with all my heart and all my soul.
42 "For thus says the LORD: Just as I have brought all this great disaster upon this people, so I will bring upon them all the good that I promise them.
43 Fields shall be bought in this land of which you are saying, 'It is a desolation, without man or beast; it is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.'
44 Fields shall be bought for money, and deeds shall be signed and sealed and witnessed, in the land of Benjamin, in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, in the cities of the hill country, in the cities of the Shephelah, and in the cities of the Negeb; for I will restore their fortunes, declares the LORD."
