역대하 22-24
제22장
1 예루살렘 주민이 여호람의 막내 아들 아하시야에게 왕위를 계승하게 하였으니 이는 전에 아라비아 사람들과 함께 와서 진을 치던 부대가 그의 모든 형들을 죽였음이라 그러므로 유다 왕 여호람의 아들 아하시야가 왕이 되었더라
2 아하시야가 왕이 될 때에 나이가 사십이 세라 예루살렘에서 일 년 동안 다스리니라 그의 어머니의 이름은 아달랴요 오므리의 손녀더라
3 아하시야도 아합의 집 길로 행하였으니 이는 그의 어머니가 꾀어 악을 행하게 하였음이라
4 그의 아버지가 죽은 후에 그가 패망하게 하는 아합의 집의 가르침을 따라 여호와 보시기에 아합의 집 같이 악을 행하였더라
5 아하시야가 아합의 집의 가르침을 따라 이스라엘 왕 아합의 아들 요람과 함께 길르앗 라못으로 가서 아람 왕 하사엘과 더불어 싸우더니 아람 사람들이 요람을 상하게 한지라
6 요람이 아람 왕 하사엘과 싸울 때에 라마에서 맞아 상한 것을 치료하려 하여 이스르엘로 돌아왔더라 아합의 아들 요람이 병이 있으므로 유다 왕 여호람의 아들 아사랴가 이스르엘에 내려가서 방문하였더라
7 아하시야가 요람에게 가므로 해를 입었으니 이는 하나님께로 말미암은 것이라 아하시야가 갔다가 요람과 함께 나가서 님시의 아들 예후를 맞았으니 그는 여호와께서 기름을 부으시고 아합의 집을 멸하게 하신 자이더라
8 예후로 하여금 아합의 집을 심판하게 하실 때에 유다 방백들과 아하시야의 형제들의 아들들 곧 아하시야를 섬기는 자들을 만나서 죽였고
9 아하시야는 사마리아에 숨었더니 예후가 찾으매 무리가 그를 예후에게로 잡아가서 죽이고 이르기를 그는 전심으로 여호와를 구하던 여호사밧의 아들이라 하고 장사하였더라 이에 아하시야의 집이 약하여 왕위를 힘으로 지키지 못하게 되니라
10 아하시야의 어머니 아달랴가 자기의 아들이 죽은 것을 보고 일어나 유다 집의 왕국의 씨를 모두 진멸하였으나
11 왕의 딸 여호사브앗이 아하시야의 아들 요아스를 왕자들이 죽임을 당하는 중에서 몰래 빼내어 그와 그의 유모를 침실에 숨겨 아달랴를 피하게 하였으므로 아달랴가 그를 죽이지 못하였더라 여호사브앗은 여호람 왕의 딸이요 아하시야의 누이요 제사장 여호야다의 아내이더라
12 요아스가 그들과 함께 하나님의 전에 육 년을 숨어 있는 동안에 아달랴가 나라를 다스렸더라
제23장
1 제칠년에 여호야다가 용기를 내어 백부장 곧 여로함의 아들 아사랴와 여호하난의 아들 이스마엘과 오벳의 아들 아사랴와 아다야의 아들 마아세야와 시그리의 아들 엘리사밧 등과 더불어 언약을 세우매
2 그들이 유다를 두루 다니며 유다 모든 고을에서 레위 사람들과 이스라엘 족장들을 모아 예루살렘에 이른지라
3 온 회중이 하나님의 전에서 왕과 언약을 세우매 여호야다가 무리에게 이르되 여호와께서 다윗의 자손에게 대하여 말씀하신 대로 왕자가 즉위하여야 할지니
4 이제 너희는 이와 같이 행하라 너희 제사장들과 레위 사람들 곧 안식일에 당번인 자들의 삼분의 일은 문을 지키고
5 삼분의 일은 왕궁에 있고 삼분의 일은 기초문에 있고 백성들은 여호와의 전 뜰에 있을지라
6 제사장들과 수종 드는 레위 사람들은 거룩한즉 여호와의 전에 들어오려니와 그 외의 다른 사람은 들어오지 못할 것이니 모든 백성은 여호와께 지켜야 할 바를 지킬지며
7 레위 사람들은 각각 손에 무기를 잡고 왕을 호위하며 다른 사람이 성전에 들어오거든 죽이고 왕이 출입할 때에 경호할지니라 하니
8 레위 사람들과 모든 유다 사람들이 제사장 여호야다가 명령한 모든 것을 준행하여 각기 수하에 안식일에 당번인 자와 안식일에 비번인 자들을 거느리고 있었으니 이는 제사장 여호야다가 비번인 자들을 보내지 아니함이더라
9 제사장 여호야다가 하나님의 전 안에 있는 다윗 왕의 창과 큰 방패와 작은 방패를 백부장들에게 주고
10 또 백성들에게 각각 손에 무기를 잡고 왕을 호위하되 성전 오른쪽에서부터 성전 왼쪽까지 제단과 성전 곁에 서게 하고
11 무리가 왕자를 인도해 내어 면류관을 씌우며 율법책을 주고 세워 왕으로 삼을새 여호야다와 그의 아들들이 그에게 기름을 붓고 이르기를 왕이여 만세 수를 누리소서 하니라
12 아달랴가 백성들이 뛰며 왕을 찬송하는 소리를 듣고 여호와의 전에 들어가서 백성에게 이르러
13 보매 왕이 성전 문 기둥 곁에 섰고 지휘관들과 나팔수들이 왕의 곁에 모셔 서 있으며 그 땅의 모든 백성들이 즐거워하여 나팔을 불며 노래하는 자들은 주악하며 찬송을 인도하는지라 이에 아달랴가 그의 옷을 찢으며 외치되 반역이로다 반역이로다 하매
14 제사장 여호야다가 군대를 거느린 백부장들을 불러내어 이르되 반열 밖으로 몰아내라 그를 따르는 자는 칼로 죽이라 하니 제사장의 이 말은 여호와의 전에서는 그를 죽이지 말라 함이라
15 이에 무리가 그에게 길을 열어 주고 그가 왕궁 말문 어귀에 이를 때에 거기서 죽였더라
16 여호야다가 자기와 모든 백성과 왕 사이에 언약을 세워 여호와의 백성이 되리라 한지라
17 온 국민이 바알의 신당으로 가서 그 신당을 부수고 그의 제단들과 형상들을 깨뜨리고 그 제단 앞에서 바알의 제사장 맛단을 죽이니라
18 여호야다가 여호와의 전의 직원들을 세워 레위 제사장의 수하에 맡기니 이들은 다윗이 전에 그들의 반열을 나누어서 여호와의 전에서 모세의 율법에 기록한 대로 여호와께 번제를 드리며 자기들의 정한 규례대로 즐거이 부르고 노래하게 하였던 자들이더라
19 또 문지기를 여호와의 전 여러 문에 두어 무슨 일에든지 부정한 모든 자는 들어오지 못하게 하고
20 백부장들과 존귀한 자들과 백성의 방백들과 그 땅의 모든 백성을 거느리고 왕을 인도하여 여호와의 전에서 내려와 윗문으로부터 왕궁에 이르러 왕을 나라 보좌에 앉히매
21 그 땅의 모든 백성이 즐거워하고 성중이 평온하더라 아달랴를 무리가 칼로 죽였었더라
제24장
1 요아스가 왕위에 오를 때에 나이가 칠 세라 예루살렘에서 사십 년 동안 다스리니라 그의 어머니의 이름은 시비아요 브엘세바 사람이더라
2 제사장 여호야다가 세상에 사는 모든 날에 요아스가 여호와 보시기에 정직하게 행하였으며
3 여호야다가 그를 두 아내에게 장가들게 하였더니 자녀를 낳았더라
4 그 후에 요아스가 여호와의 전을 보수할 뜻을 두고
5 제사장들과 레위 사람들을 모으고 그들에게 이르되 너희는 유다 여러 성읍에 가서 모든 이스라엘에게 해마다 너희의 하나님의 전을 수리할 돈을 거두되 그 일을 빨리 하라 하였으나 레위 사람이 빨리 하지 아니한지라
6 왕이 대제사장 여호야다를 불러 이르되 네가 어찌하여 레위 사람들을 시켜서 여호와의 종 모세와 이스라엘의 회중이 성막을 위하여 정한 세를 유다와 예루살렘에서 거두게 하지 아니하였느냐 하니
7 이는 그 악한 여인 아달랴의 아들들이 하나님의 전을 파괴하고 또 여호와의 전의 모든 성물들을 바알들을 위하여 사용하였음이었더라
8 이에 왕이 말하여 한 궤를 만들어 여호와의 전 문 밖에 두게 하고
9 유다와 예루살렘에 공포하여 하나님의 종 모세가 광야에서 이스라엘에게 정한 세를 여호와께 드리라 하였더니
10 모든 방백들과 백성들이 기뻐하여 마치기까지 돈을 가져다가 궤에 던지니라
11 레위 사람들이 언제든지 궤를 메고 왕의 관리에게 가지고 가서 돈이 많은 것을 보이면 왕의 서기관과 대제사장에게 속한 관원이 와서 그 궤를 쏟고 다시 그 곳에 가져다 두었더라 때때로 이렇게 하여 돈을 많이 거두매
12 왕과 여호야다가 그 돈을 여호와의 전 감독자에게 주어 석수와 목수를 고용하여 여호와의 전을 보수하며 또 철공과 놋쇠공을 고용하여 여호와의 전을 수리하게 하였더니
13 기술자들이 맡아서 수리하는 공사가 점점 진척되므로 하나님의 전을 이전 모양대로 견고하게 하니라
14 공사를 마친 후에 그 남은 돈을 왕과 여호야다 앞으로 가져왔으므로 그것으로 여호와의 전에 쓸 그릇을 만들었으니 곧 섬겨 제사 드리는 그릇이며 또 숟가락과 금은 그릇들이라 여호야다가 세상에 사는 모든 날에 여호와의 전에 항상 번제를 드렸더라
15 여호야다가 나이가 많고 늙어서 죽으니 죽을 때에 백삼십 세라
16 무리가 다윗 성 여러 왕의 묘실 중에 장사하였으니 이는 그가 이스라엘과 하나님과 그의 성전에 대하여 선을 행하였음이더라
17 여호야다가 죽은 후에 유다 방백들이 와서 왕에게 절하매 왕이 그들의 말을 듣고
18 그의 조상들의 하나님 여호와의 전을 버리고 아세라 목상과 우상을 섬겼으므로 그 죄로 말미암아 진노가 유다와 예루살렘에 임하니라
19 그러나 여호와께서 그들에게 선지자를 보내사 다시 여호와에게로 돌아오게 하려 하시매 선지자들이 그들에게 경고하였으나 듣지 아니하니라
20 이에 하나님의 영이 제사장 여호야다의 아들 스가랴를 감동시키시매 그가 백성 앞에 높이 서서 그들에게 이르되 하나님이 이같이 말씀하시기를 너희가 어찌하여 여호와의 명령을 거역하여 스스로 형통하지 못하게 하느냐 하셨나니 너희가 여호와를 버렸으므로 여호와께서도 너희를 버리셨느니라 하나
21 무리가 함께 꾀하고 왕의 명령을 따라 그를 여호와의 전 뜰 안에서 돌로 쳐죽였더라
22 요아스 왕이 이와 같이 스가랴의 아버지 여호야다가 베푼 은혜를 기억하지 아니하고 그의 아들을 죽이니 그가 죽을 때에 이르되 여호와는 감찰하시고 신원하여 주옵소서 하니라
23 일 주년 말에 아람 군대가 요아스를 치려고 올라와서 유다와 예루살렘에 이르러 백성 중에서 모든 방백들을 다 죽이고 노략한 물건을 다메섹 왕에게로 보내니라
24 아람 군대가 적은 무리로 왔으나 여호와께서 심히 큰 군대를 그들의 손에 넘기셨으니 이는 유다 사람들이 그들의 조상들의 하나님 여호와를 버렸음이라 이와 같이 아람 사람들이 요아스를 징벌하였더라
25 요아스가 크게 부상하매 적군이 그를 버리고 간 후에 그의 신하들이 제사장 여호야다의 아들들의 피로 말미암아 반역하여 그를 그의 침상에서 쳐죽인지라 다윗 성에 장사하였으나 왕들의 묘실에는 장사하지 아니하였더라
26 반역한 자들은 암몬 여인 시므앗의 아들 사밧과 모압 여인 시므릿의 아들 여호사밧이더라
27 요아스의 아들들의 사적과 요아스가 중대한 경책을 받은 것과 하나님의 전을 보수한 사적은 다 열왕기 주석에 기록되니라 그의 아들 아마샤가 대신하여 왕이 되니라
2Chronicles 22-24
Chapter 22
1 And the inhabitants of Jerusalem made Ahaziah, his youngest son, king in his place, for the band of men that came with the Arabians to the camp had killed all the older sons. So Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah reigned.
2 Ahaziah was twenty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Athaliah, the granddaughter of Omri.
3 He also walked in the ways of the house of Ahab, for his mother was his counselor in doing wickedly.
4 He did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, as the house of Ahab had done. For after the death of his father they were his counselors, to his undoing.
5 He even followed their counsel and went with Jehoram the son of Ahab king of Israel to make war against Hazael king of Syria at Ramoth-gilead. And the Syrians wounded Joram,
6 and he returned to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds that he had received at Ramah, when he fought against Hazael king of Syria. And Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to see Joram the son of Ahab in Jezreel, because he was wounded.
7 But it was ordained by God that the downfall of Ahaziah should come about through his going to visit Joram. For when he came there, he went out with Jehoram to meet Jehu the son of Nimshi, whom the LORD had anointed to destroy the house of Ahab.
8 And when Jehu was executing judgment on the house of Ahab, he met the princes of Judah and the sons of Ahaziah's brothers, who attended Ahaziah, and he killed them.
9 He searched for Ahaziah, and he was captured while hiding in Samaria, and he was brought to Jehu and put to death. They buried him, for they said, "He is the grandson of Jehoshaphat, who sought the LORD with all his heart." And the house of Ahaziah had no one able to rule the kingdom.
10 Now when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the royal family of the house of Judah.
11 But Jehoshabeath, the daughter of the king, took Joash the son of Ahaziah and stole him away from among the king's sons who were about to be put to death, and she put him and his nurse in a bedroom. Thus Jehoshabeath, the daughter of King Jehoram and wife of Jehoiada the priest, because she was a sister of Ahaziah, hid him from Athaliah, so that she did not put him to death.
12 And he remained with them six years, hidden in the house of God, while Athaliah reigned over the land.
Chapter 23
1 But in the seventh year Jehoiada took courage and entered into a covenant with the commanders of hundreds, Azariah the son of Jeroham, Ishmael the son of Jehohanan, Azariah the son of Obed, Maaseiah the son of Adaiah, and Elishaphat the son of Zichri.
2 And they went about through Judah and gathered the Levites from all the cities of Judah, and the heads of fathers' houses of Israel, and they came to Jerusalem.
3 And all the assembly made a covenant with the king in the house of God. And Jehoiada said to them, "Behold, the king's son! Let him reign, as the LORD spoke concerning the sons of David.
4 This is the thing that you shall do: of you priests and Levites who come off duty on the Sabbath, one third shall be gatekeepers,
5 and one third shall be at the king's house and one third at the Gate of the Foundation. And all the people shall be in the courts of the house of the LORD.
6 Let no one enter the house of the LORD except the priests and ministering Levites. They may enter, for they are holy, but all the people shall keep the charge of the LORD.
7 The Levites shall surround the king, each with his weapons in his hand. And whoever enters the house shall be put to death. Be with the king when he comes in and when he goes out."
8 The Levites and all Judah did according to all that Jehoiada the priest commanded, and they each brought his men, who were to go off duty on the Sabbath, with those who were to come on duty on the Sabbath, for Jehoiada the priest did not dismiss the divisions.
9 And Jehoiada the priest gave to the captains the spears and the large and small shields that had been King David's, which were in the house of God.
10 And he set all the people as a guard for the king, every man with his weapon in his hand, from the south side of the house to the north side of the house, around the altar and the house.
11 Then they brought out the king's son and put the crown on him and gave him the testimony. And they proclaimed him king, and Jehoiada and his sons anointed him, and they said, "Long live the king."
12 When Athaliah heard the noise of the people running and praising the king, she went into the house of the LORD to the people.
13 And when she looked, there was the king standing by his pillar at the entrance, and the captains and the trumpeters beside the king, and all the people of the land rejoicing and blowing trumpets, and the singers with their musical instruments leading in the celebration. And Athaliah tore her clothes and cried, "Treason! Treason!"
14 Then Jehoiada the priest brought out the captains who were set over the army, saying to them, "Bring her out between the ranks, and anyone who follows her is to be put to death with the sword." For the priest said, "Do not put her to death in the house of the LORD."
15 So they laid hands on her, and she went into the entrance of the horse gate of the king's house, and they put her to death there.
16 And Jehoiada made a covenant between himself and all the people and the king that they should be the LORD's people.
17 Then all the people went to the house of Baal and tore it down; his altars and his images they broke in pieces, and they killed Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars.
18 And Jehoiada posted watchmen for the house of the LORD under the direction of the Levitical priests and the Levites whom David had organized to be in charge of the house of the LORD, to offer burnt offerings to the LORD, as it is written in the Law of Moses, with rejoicing and with singing, according to the order of David.
19 He stationed the gatekeepers at the gates of the house of the LORD so that no one should enter who was in any way unclean.
20 And he took the captains, the nobles, the governors of the people, and all the people of the land, and they brought the king down from the house of the LORD, marching through the upper gate to the king's house. And they set the king on the royal throne.
21 So all the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was quiet after Athaliah had been put to death with the sword.
Chapter 24
1 Joash was seven years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Zibiah of Beersheba.
2 And Joash did what was right in the eyes of the LORD all the days of Jehoiada the priest.
3 Jehoiada got for him two wives, and he had sons and daughters.
4 After this Joash decided to restore the house of the LORD.
5 And he gathered the priests and the Levites and said to them, "Go out to the cities of Judah and gather from all Israel money to repair the house of your God from year to year, and see that you act quickly." But the Levites did not act quickly.
6 So the king summoned Jehoiada the chief and said to him, "Why have you not required the Levites to bring in from Judah and Jerusalem the tax levied by Moses, the servant of the LORD, and the congregation of Israel for the tent of testimony?"
7 For the sons of Athaliah, that wicked woman, had broken into the house of God, and had also used all the dedicated things of the house of the LORD for the Baals.
8 So the king commanded, and they made a chest and set it outside the gate of the house of the LORD.
9 And proclamation was made throughout Judah and Jerusalem to bring in for the LORD the tax that Moses the servant of God laid on Israel in the wilderness.
10 And all the princes and all the people rejoiced and brought their tax and dropped it into the chest until they had finished.
11 And whenever the chest was brought to the king's officers by the Levites, when they saw that there was much money in it, the king's secretary and the officer of the chief priest would come and empty the chest and take it and return it to its place. Thus they did day after day, and collected money in abundance.
12 And the king and Jehoiada gave it to those who had charge of the work of the house of the LORD, and they hired masons and carpenters to restore the house of the LORD, and also workers in iron and bronze to repair the house of the LORD.
13 So those who were engaged in the work labored, and the repairing went forward in their hands, and they restored the house of God to its proper condition and strengthened it.
14 And when they had finished, they brought the rest of the money before the king and Jehoiada, and with it were made utensils for the house of the LORD, both for the service and for the burnt offerings, and dishes for incense and vessels of gold and silver. And they offered burnt offerings in the house of the LORD regularly all the days of Jehoiada.
15 But Jehoiada grew old and full of days, and died. He was 130 years old at his death.
16 And they buried him in the city of David among the kings, because he had done good in Israel, and toward God and his house.
17 Now after the death of Jehoiada the princes of Judah came and paid homage to the king. Then the king listened to them.
18 And they abandoned the house of the LORD, the God of their fathers, and served the Asherim and the idols. And wrath came upon Judah and Jerusalem for this guilt of theirs.
19 Yet he sent prophets among them to bring them back to the LORD. These testified against them, but they would not pay attention.
20 Then the Spirit of God clothed Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest, and he stood above the people, and said to them, "Thus says God, 'Why do you break the commandments of the LORD, so that you cannot prosper? Because you have forsaken the LORD, he has forsaken you.'"
21 But they conspired against him, and by command of the king they stoned him with stones in the court of the house of the LORD.
22 Thus Joash the king did not remember the kindness that Jehoiada, Zechariah's father, had shown him, but killed his son. And when he was dying, he said, "May the LORD see and avenge!"
23 At the end of the year the army of the Syrians came up against Joash. They came to Judah and Jerusalem and destroyed all the princes of the people from among the people and sent all their spoil to the king of Damascus.
24 Though the army of the Syrians had come with few men, the LORD delivered into their hand a very great army, because Judah had forsaken the LORD, the God of their fathers. Thus they executed judgment on Joash.
25 When they had departed from him, leaving him severely wounded, his servants conspired against him because of the blood of the son of Jehoiada the priest, and killed him on his bed. So he died, and they buried him in the city of David, but they did not bury him in the tombs of the kings.
26 Those who conspired against him were Zabad the son of Shimeath the Ammonite, and Jehozabad the son of Shimrith the Moabite.
27 Accounts of his sons and of the many oracles against him and of the rebuilding of the house of God are written in the Story of the Book of the Kings. And Amaziah his son reigned in his place.
